Get more involved with the library through volunteering, the Friends, and the Library Board.

Volunteering

Volunteers provide many hours of assistance to the library by shelving books, assisting with programs, mending books, and a wide variety of other tasks. We have volunteer positions for people of all ages, from children to seniors. Contact Sandy Kinney at 503-980-2416 or sandy.kinney@ci.woodburn.or.us.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of Woodburn Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Woodburn Public Library and library programs. We provide funding for the Summer Reading Program, Music in the Park, children's programs and adult programs throughout the year. In addition, our group has provided funding for special collections, such as ESL (English as a Second Language) materials, or new library furniture.

Because of our interest in the Woodburn Public Library, we want to focus attention on the library and stimulate the use of its resources and services. We encourage the donation of gifts, bequests, and endowments to benefit the library. The Friends organization cooperates with the library in developing services and facilities for the community, and lends legislative support where needed.

How We Do It
We sell community donations and library discards at the Friends Book Shop on the main floor, next to the circulation desk. We sell other books and materials online. Donation jars are available at Friends-funded events. Community contributions are always welcome, as are other fund-raising ideas.

You Are Invited
Join the Friends of Woodburn Public Library. We are a support group for your library and always welcome new members. Quarterly meetings are held in the library's Carnegie room. Call 503-982-5259 for more information.

Annual member dues are $5 for individuals, $10 for clubs, and $15 for businesses.

The Public Library Board

The Woodburn Public Library Board consists of 7 members appointed by the Mayor. The Board serves in an advisory capacity in setting library policies and priorities. They meet the 2nd Wednesday of January, April, July, and October at 7pm in the City Hall council chambers.
