"I think a good novel would be where a bunch of men on a ship are looking for a whale. They look and look, but you know what? They never find him. And you know why they never find him? It doesn't say. The book leaves it up to you, the reader, to decide. Then, at the very end, there's a page you can lick and it tastes like Kool-Aid."

—Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts], Recurring Saturday Night Live comedy bit

Document Actions

Youth services staff focus on early childhood literacy through fun programs, books, and homework help for our younger patrons.

Youth Services AreaThe Youth Services area provides creative and active experiences that foster early childhood literacy. Highlights include a current collection of books, magazines, and videos in English, Spanish and Russian. There are also four game computers for younger children, and three Internet computers for kids ages 10-12.

Programs for children include storytimes, activities and crafts during school vacations and early-release days, and an expansive Summer Reading Program. Teen programs include our monthly Anime Night.

Youth Services staff also do extensive outreach to the local community, including storytimes at preschools and elementary schools, and visits in the library by school children and parents.

Deeda at StorytimeYou and your children are welcome in the library, and we hope to see you soon.
